Welsh Water Filter Performance Monitoring System, upgrading Felindre WTW using Pi’s FilterSense

Welsh Water continues to invest in Pi’s products, with the purchase of 16 new FilterSense particle counters for Felindre WTW, a water treatment plant in South Wales. With an average long-term output of 118ML per day, Felindre WTW is now able to control their water processes more effectively. The FilterSense was introduced to optimize the water treatment process as smaller particles can be sized and counted, ultimately maintaining the high standard of drinking water produced.

The FilterSense from Pi, monitors filter effluent for Cryptosporidium and Giardia sized particles. The robust sapphire optics ensure that the FilterSense has an extended life, leading to a lower total cost of ownership. Not only does it have a counting range of 2-750 microns, the FilterSense also has a sizing range of 2-125 microns. This, coupled with its multi-sensor capability, means the FilterSense is probably the best particle counter option on the market for monitoring individual filters.

Working closely with Welsh Water, Pi was able to propose a FilterSense system at an attractive price, whilst meeting all the specified requirements, thereby providing the best value for money.

Pi is proud to be part of the initiative that is providing clean drinking water for Welsh Water’s approximate 3 million customers. We look forward to the continuation of this project!
