Automatic Cleaning System that Reduces Sensor Fouling without Intervention
Monitoring disinfectants is one of the most common forms of online water analysis, and the list of industries and applications is almost endless. There are a number of different technologies that are ‘tried and tested’, having been established for many decades now, and membrane-based amperometric sensors are one of these technologies.
These sensors are sensitive, accurate, affordable and cheap to run, but what if the water being tested poses a challenge? What if it contains solids, fats or other substances that can foul surfaces and sensors? Maintaining and managing disinfectant levels in these conditions can be a real headache due to unreliable data, and this is where the AutoFlush from Process Instruments can help.

The image above is from a site in New Zealand where poultry is processed. Four AutoFlush units have been installed there. The cell and sensors are drained, sprayed and cleaned on a user-defined schedule to keep everything functioning without human intervention. Combined with the advanced connectivity and online capability of the CRIUS®4.0 instrument controller, AutoFlush is a product that ‘just works’.
As well as processing meat such as chicken and beef, AutoFlush is used extensively on vegetables, fruit, salads and herbs, and can also be found in industries outside the food and beverage industry, such as paper mills, power stations, and some irrigation systems have all benefitted from using the AutoFlush.
If you think that AutoFlush could be the right choice for you and your process, please don’t hesitate to get in touch and we will be happy to help.
