Business studies students from St Anne's school visiting Pi.

Students from St. Anne’s Academy

Eight students from St. Anne’s Academy in Middleton visited Pi’s offices today as part of their ‘A’ level Business Studies course.

Students follow Pi’s progress as a business during their studies at St. Anne’s Academy newly opened and successful sixth form centre. And today they visited the company to ask Managing Director, Mike Riding questions about the company not readily answerable from the information provided to St Anne’s Academy by Pi.

Course Director Ms Rachel Robinson who accompanied the students on their visit said:

“We have watched with excitement as Process Instruments has gone from strength to strength growing at approximately 25% year on year for 6 years. Mike believes in partnerships between academia and business at all levels and provides our students with all the information they need about a real company to bring their studies to life. This trip is an opportunity for our students to meet the people behind the numbers and that is a great opportunity for them.”

Pi works with a number of educational establishments to provide opportunities for young people; including providing apprenticeships and work placements, hosting school visits and mentoring individual students.

Following the visit Mike Riding said:

“Whilst all businesses have a profit motive, Pi is more multi-dimensional than that. Pi is a group of people working together towards common goals and as such it takes on a collective morality and set of motivators. The people at Pi believe strongly in, and have, connections with education and as such Pi makes time for students and is all the stronger for it.”
