Remote Access Control via GSM/GPRS

The Process Instrument CRIUS & CRATOS controllers can provide as an option, remote access via LAN or GPRS modem. This capability is unique in that it

  • provides two way communications allowing not just to the downloading of data but the uploading of new settings, setpoints, PID controls, etc.
  • provide peer to peer communication so the controller talks directly to the internet, there is no web site in the middle to have to log on to.
  • email alarms and daily emails can be sent to up to 5 email address. The daily email has the previous 24 hours data attached, so you need never download data again, it just arrives in your inbox.

Demonstration

In order for you to try the remote access capabilities of the CRIUS® and CRATOS controllers Pi has set up an instrument in our facility in Burnley, Lancashire, UK. This can be set up as various analysers including a Residual Chlorine Analyzer, a Swimming Pool Controller or pH Analyzer depending on what else it is being used for. If you wish to see a particular configuration then please contact one of our sales people who will arrange for the unit to be reconfigured.

From this page you can access it from these links:

Please note that the best results will be found using Mozilla Firefox although all browsers will work. Please don't forget that these analysers are being accessed via the phone network and their signal strength may vary. Also it is only possible for one person to connect to the analyser at one time.

After you have connected you will be prompted for a username and password, enter the username "ENG" (in uppercase) and the password "3"

Best results will be achieved if you only click on one button at a time and wait for the page to finish downloading before clicking a button. If the button doesn't work please try again. Please feel free to navigate around the instrument (don't forget that this is the actual instrument that you are connected to, not a web page simulation)

Tutorial 1 - Set up an alarm and send yourself a text message

  • Log on this page http://92.27.94.107:8080 and use username "ENG" and password "3"
  • From the main screen go on Status (top-left corner)
  • You will see a page with measurands e.g. pH, chlorine
  • Let's suppose that the chlorine reading is 0.46 mg/l and we want the chlorine to be always lower than 0.45 mg/l (we will set up only the high level alarm in this tutorial)
  • Now click on Setup (top menu) and then Alarms (left menu) and finally Free Chlorine Sensor. From that page you can set up the Alarms
  • On the first panel “Alarm 1” select:
    • Enabled : ON
    • Set: 0.45
    • Reset: 0.40
  • In this way when the chlorine reading rises through 0.45 the system will go into alarm and it will come out of alarm when it falls through 0.40.
  • On the left menu go to Comms then SMS Alerts and chose:
    • Setup → Enabled
    • Phonebook → Insert your number here in the format + Country Code - Phone Number (e.g. +4455512345678)
  • Press Submit
  • Shortly you will receive a message that will tell you that there's an alarm
  • To acknowledge please send a text back to the analyser with the text “OK”. In this way the analyser knows that you know about the alarm and you are going to do something.
  • After you have received the message please remember to delete your number and de-activate the alarm.

In order to download some data from the analyser you have to:

  • If you want to download the System Logs then just click the download button at the bottom of the page

  • Then select the parameter and click Download
  • You get all the Datalogs in CSV format
