Welcome to Process Instruments (UK) Limited (PI) which started life in 1998. It was formed by two people committed to providing solutions to process problems in the water, waste, chemical, and paper industries. Early in its life PI sold solutions sourced from companies such as Chemtrac in Atlanta Georgia including On-line Charge analysers for the front end of paper machines and Particle Counters for the water industry. From day one the company started to develop a reputation for service, and we are proud to say that we have never walked away from a customer's problem. With customers such as Georgia Pacific, Smurfit, Proctor and Gamble, South West Water, United Utilities, Scottish Water, Urenco, and BNFL, we are completely committed to ensuring that our customers are happy with the products and services that we provide.

Since 1998 we have grown and now occupy our own premises in Burnley in Lancashire (very nearly at the geographical centre of the United Kingdom), where we have added to our range of products to include a specialist range of suspended solids analysers which are suitable for practically any application from primary sludge to glass fibres in an acid slurry at high temperatures. Particularly interesting from a process control perspective is the online dry solids monitor for waste water applications such as polymer control on presses and centrifuges.

In 2003 our success led us to want to develop our own range of sensors and electronics. This development was done in collaboration with the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST) and has resulted in PI launching the world's first auto-calibrating residual chlorine analyser in January 2006. Not only does the CRIUS 3500 auto-calibrate, but it includes some ground breaking electronics which allow the instrument to text alarms to any mobile phone, or e-mail datalogs.

The future for PI will be to continue to provide solutions to the problems that our customers face. We will continue to do so with the best service, and the best instruments. Sometimes these instruments will be made by other companies but increasingly the solutions will come from our own CRIUS range of instruments which since January 2006 has already grown to include Total Chlorine and Dissolved Ozone.

If you can think of ways that we may be able to help you then please e-mail me direct on roger.heise@processinstruments.net. To get a closer look at the new CRIUS products visit our product page.
