Company Information
Pi is a global supplier and has been providing instrument solutions since 1998 through Distributors, under Private Label/OEM agreements and to End Users in the Water, Waste, Chemical, Paper, Pool & Leisure industries. With offices, a laboratory and new manufacturing facilities in Burnley, in the UK, Pi has a growing reputation for innovation and operates globally with customers in over 50 countries, on 6 continents.
Recognising that no two applications are the same, Pi develops solutions to meet customer requirements and remains committed to product development and improving customer relations by delivering invaluable onsite support, excellent customer service, knowledge and expertise. In 2008 Pi was awarded the ISO 9001 quality accreditation, and in the last 5 years has achieved growth of >25% year on year and has continued to invest heavily in Research & Development (accounting for 30% of overhead).
Pi is known to make the best Water Quality Analysers on the market so it comes as no surprise that other companies want to sell them as their own under Private Label agreements. In addition to the original design and manufacture, Pi provides all the training, onsite technical support, and telephone support, which saves Private Label partners and Distributors significant sums of money on Research & Development and Training & Support; which is all achieved with an extremely attractive discount.
To date Pi has 15 major Private Label Agreements, although most of the business still comes through its strong Distributor partnerships, with last year proving to be an excellent year for the company, resulting in considerable sales growth in the Middle East and the Far East.
Pi offers many unique solutions including twoway remote access communication via GPRS to give full peer to peer remote access. This and other innovations are as a result of years of collaborative research and development with The University of Manchester, which undoubtably led to the company winning probably the single biggest chlorine analyser order ever, for the supply of over 300 analysers to Northern Ireland Water.
Thanks to continued product development projects, Pi has won numerous awards over the years. Most recently in 2010/11, Pi won the International Achievement and Editor's Choice Award at the Red Rose Awards, and won the Technology Award at the Lancashire Telegraph Business Awards 2010. In 2009 and 2011, Pi won the Innovation Award at the Burnley Business & Innovation Awards, and was regional winner of the Achievement in International Business at the British Chamber of Commerce Awards. In 2008 Pi won the O2 Award for Innovation through Technology and a DTi SMART Award and was recipient of a DTi grant for Research & Development (NWDA).
Continued investment in product development has resulted in numerous new products recently, including the newly launched range of instrument controllers; the CRONOS, CRIUS® and CRATOS.
Roger Heise, Chairman of Process Instruments:
“2009/10 was a great year for Pi, with our 10th anniversary, numerous product launches and also completing our research into remote access for the CRIUS range of instruments. The Northern Ireland Water contract was a tangible recognition of the company’s innovation and commitment to deliver world class products. The team at Pi is looking forward to continuing to work closely with its customers for everyone’s success in 2011.”
